Remote Editor

Tapping on the edit button in the menu bar will bring up the Remote Editor. The Editor is only accessible in creator mode (change mode in settings).

The editor is divided into the left side bar which is always visible, and the main editing window on the right whose contents will vary depending on the editing mode selected in the side bar. In all modes except IR transmit, the remote is shown in the top part of the editing window. Buttons can be selected by tapping them on the small remote, or by using the arrows either side of the button label on the side bar.

The side bar is divided into three sections. The top section is for selecting the remote and its backdrop. The middle section deals with button management - ordering, delete, new, copy, paste. The lower section deals with the different properties of the button.

Remote

At the top of this section is the number of the current remote that is being edited. Tap on the arrows either side of the Remote label to change remote. Alternatively enter the list mode to select the remote and then return to the editor.

Backdrop

There is a small image of the remote backdrop along with its width and height. Enter the backdrop mode to change the remote dimensions and backdrop graphics. Tap here to jump to the remote background page. Note the width and height give the size of the remote on which all button positioning and sizing is based. The width and height do not need to correspond to the screen size. The remote is automatically scaled to the screen anyway.

Name

This will open up the edit name options, where the remote name and its text color can be set. Note that, the remote name is only shown above the remote if the Remote Name Visible option is checked in the settings.

Button

At the top of this section, the index of the currently selected button (if any is shown) is shown. Move between buttons by selecting them on the remote or by using the small arrows next to the button label.

Order Arrows

Use the up and down Arrows to change the order of the buttons. Use the up arrow to shift the button up the list (to a lower number). Use the down arrow to shift the button down the list. The order of buttons is not important and only reflects the order that they are stored in saved files and memory. In some circumstances it will be preferable to keep them organised.

Delete

Tapping the trashcan will delete the currently selected button. If the option to Confirm Delete of Buttons is checked in the main settings, then an extra step of confirming an are you sure? dialog that appears is required.

New

Tapping the new button will create a new button on the remote. It will be a default round shape and grey color with no icon or IR pattern assigned. Note that there is a limit of 100 buttons per remote.

Copy

Copies the currently selected button storing its values ready for being pasted in either this remote or another one.

Paste

If a button has been stored with the copy button, then paste will create a copy of that button on the current remote.

Side Bar Lower Section

The lower section deals with the button properties - its design and IR transmission pattern. This section is explained in more detail in the following pages on Button Design and IR Transmit Pattern.
